Chilltown Bears is the brainchild of Carlos Abreu and Joe DiMuro, a gay couple living in Jersey City, NJ. We wanted to showcase being out and about in Jersey City and the vicinity in our own special way. While there’s a gay twist to what you’ll find within, most everything is of general interest. Please explore the site thoroughly at your leisure. We’re just starting out, but we’re busily gathering all sorts of goodies for you to enjoy, so stay tuned!
Why Chilltown Bears? We’re bears living in Chilltown!
What are Bears? We could go on about this, but basically the Other Gay Men, the ones with bellies and beards, fond of flannel and comfort food, and say Grrrrr a lot. Woof! sometimes too… don’t ask.
Where’s Chilltown? Jersey City, NJ. The nickname Chilltown was borrowed many years ago from a rap album called ‘Raptivity’ and it stuck. Google it or search Wikipedia online for more information.
TECHNOLOGY
The site is powered by the latest version of WordPress and WPXL, a suite of plugins for WordPress developed by Carlos Abreu of the Chilltown Bears. WordPress is a popular extensible open-source blogging software system which allows developers to augment its core functionality with a plugin interface.
